Blog Post #4 - Camera Shots & Camera Movements in The Dark Knight! - 9/20/2021

 

The Dark Knight

For this blog post, I watched a movie & took notes of the various camera shots & movements that I saw in  the film during me watching. The movie of my choosing was the Dark Knight that came out in 2008. There were tons of camera shots & camera movements in the movie, especially in one of my favorite scenes of the movie, todays blog post is gonna be revolved around the different shots and movements I saw in the movie.

During the batman's interrogation of the joker, a medium close up & a normal close up are both used as well as a pan in an attempt to focus into the conversation currently going on between the two. It emphasizes Batman's strength & anger in the scene but also emphasizes the jokers manipulation & how even chained, still has the upper hand.
During this scene, the Joker is essentially begging for batman to hit him with his motorbike. A low angle is essentially used to highlight the intimidating factor of the joker as well as the threatening & creepy factor, emphasizing his faee as well a close up shot to determine how the Joker is angry of losing their first battle.
The Dark Knight
For this scene, the author uses a wide shot & a medium close up. The Author uses the wide shot to emphasize what exactly the Batman failed to accomplish & showing the destruction he wasn't able to prevent as well as the death. It also uses a medium close up to show the current mood he is in, which is mourning & sadness, as his best friend has just been killed. 
Joaquin Phoenix Joker Heath Ledge
For this scene, the author uses a close up & a tracking shot. The Joker has just won his previous confrontation with Batman & is now on the escape. This is essentially created to highlight how victorious the Joker must be feeling currently, by using a close up, one can note how happy he is that he still managed to gain the upper hand as well by using a track shot to show that he's on the move.

I really loved rewatching this movie again, it's probably one of, if not, my favorite movie of all time. Heath Ledger as Joker is legendary & I'd probably watch this movie a thousand times more this year if I wanted to. It's filled with so many camera shots & camera movements & the overall cinematography and soundtrack and acting. It's just all impeccable. Anyways, see y'all later!

Blog Post #6 - Sound Project! - 10/26/2021

  So I have not blogged on here in a while! Been nearly a month now surprisingly, but I've had a bunch of stuff like school work & a bunch of stuff happening in my family and just overall, my life's been in craziness. But fairly recently, I got back into the world of media studies by working on a project for the last two weeks alongside two other students related to sound & to create a short little story from it, a foley stage project you could call it! We had all gotten together & managed to reach a consensus on what we wanted to do pretty quickly, we essentially wanted to start off with a person walking to his home with a car behind him that had two people in it, person from the car would then leave & begin to follow the person walking home & then hit them with a bat, they'd then return to their car & be congratulated for their work.  So, to begin off, we began to record by firstly recording the walking, which legit took us like a day. Blog Post #30 - Beginning to Edit - 3/29/2022

  So onto the editing part of our film! So for this part, me and Alejandro decided to take a step back and let Abdullah take a step in as he's the most exeprienced here when it comes to editing and actually knows how to do editing and since he was in charge of editing for our previous sound project. I do think that he's capable of creating something wonderful since a lot of his previous stuff is pretty good! Me and Alejandro helped out a lot with how to lay out the shots and the Videography of the shooting process. I also helped primarily on the tone and mood of the film along with helping with the costume designs with Abdullah helping with the sound as well. We did help Abdullah in many ways though, mainly just by giving suggestions on what he could do with the editing process and just any corrections that were overall needed to make it better and to fix any errors and just overall make it a nice good film opening!
