Blog Post #14 - Our Idea for our Project - 1/26/2022

Image
So me and my group finally reached on a consensus as to what we're gonna do, it was originally meant to be a comedy but we decided to change It for something better. With it being a horror as well as elements of mystery with the intro giving us the main idea of the movie.  The Main Scene will be with a group of friends driving through an underpass with them hearing a Radio Story about people disappearing near where they're at. They just shrug it off as if it was nothing or just a simple, mere joke. They then proceed to turn the radio off and continue to enjoy themselves, just as any group of friends normally would on a car ride. After this, the camera focuses on the driver as he drives through an underpass and then says something to his other buddies and receives pure and utter silence. As he's about to say something else, he gives a look at his car mirror only to see nobody there and then try to make it seem like his friends were playing a joke on him, but once again he g...

Blog Post #13 - Movie Opener Analyzing 1/26/2022

Image
So for the beginning of our own film opening project, we decided to look at other film opening projects from previous Media Studies classes to try and get some sort of inspiration from these and to also get a general overall idea of what our film opener needs to look like through observing the various film editing techniques that were used, so here was some of my observations. Rise https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9AKdUT8nyg So the first film opening was a movie named Rise, whose genre is a Sports movie. I actually really liked this opening due to its fast pace along with a lot of the quick, rapid, camera movements. Along with the positioning of the camera used as well as the various transitions used. One example would be the placement of a camera on moving soccer ball. I also really liked the various cuts that were used along with the musical soundtrack used here that matched up with the various movements of the video. I also really liked how the music got lo...

Blog Post #12 - Why I chose my members - 1/10/2022

So adding on to the start of my project, another factor is that this is basically gonna be a group project! So obviously I need to choose people to work with. I chose to work with Alejandro Villoria & Abdullah Abbasi, now the reason why I chose to work with the people here, for starters, I chose Alejandro since he definitely usually always has interest in a lot of the work he does and he has a lot expertise in terms of film editing, a long with a massive expertise in using cameras and recording videos, so I definitely think that he has a knowledge in this. I chose Abdullah since he has a vast amount of creative & unique ideas that usually always come in handy for the various projects that we're working on together, not to mention creates various good ideas for plot drafts and I think that those ideas will ultimately assist me and my group in the long run. We're already planning to work on our project with collecting various ideas as to what we will do in this film openi...

Blog Post #11 - Deciding on a Film Genre - 1/4/2022

Image
After a lot of deciding, a lot of watching videos based on film, such as genres, camera movements, camera angles, how production works, how a movie is made, the history of media, etc. And it finally came down to me deciding what I should base my movie project off on, and I decided that it should be based of off a comedy & I’ll begin to work on it soon with my group. Now the reason why I chose a comedy is because everyone loves comedy movies! Some of them can be super unfunny, but a fine majority of them have made millions upon millions laugh and everyone always loves laughing once in a while! So we just decided to choose something that’d be a lot of fun to create, since when creating comedy movies, the people creating them also have a blast while doing so, and then the people watching it obviously have a laugh as well! Not to mention, comedy movies don’t require a lot of thought process or just production in general. No special effects, no action sequences, none of that. Well, depe...

Film Opening Research #2 - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - 1/4/2021

Image
So another opening I wanted to do research on was Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2, so I love the opening scene for this movie a lot mainly because of the song that is played along opposing with what's going on in the screen. The Song being a jovial, happy and playful song called Mr. Blue Sky, whereas whatever's going on in the screen is just pure and total chaos. Not to mention, the opening for this movie was a massive meme going around at the time. The Opening has multiple titles displayed, like the title of the movie along with crediting the movie studios that made the movie along with the main people that helped with the production of the movie, such as the main starring actors along with the people that helped with the production of the movie, like the director, the producers etc. There aren't multiple Images featured in the opening, instead its just one long uninterrupted shot of Baby Groot dancing across the rooftop ignoring the current chaos of the other members o...

Film Opening Research #1 - Spider Man 3 - 1/3/2021

Image
So continuing on with my research on multiple film openings, I decided to choose Spider Man 3, since the overall topic of Spider Man has been trending quite a lot recently with the release of the new movie, Spider Man No Way Home. So I chose Spider Man 3 since I like the opening quite a lot actually! So I'd like to discuss the various elements that are featured here in the opening. For starters, how many titles are portrayed in the movie? It has titles like the main title noting that this is the third movie in Spider Man Trilogy along with a multitude of subtitles crediting the people that were involved with the film, such as the actors and the producers along with everyone else that helped in the creation of the scenes, just mainly the ones that had a high amount of value and importance, and then leaving the rest for the end credits of the film. There are multiple images that are portrayed throughout the movie that are essentially giving a visual recap of the last two films, showi...
