Film Opening Research #2 - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - 1/4/2021

 



So another opening I wanted to do research on was Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2, so I love the opening scene for this movie a lot mainly because of the song that is played along opposing with what's going on in the screen. The Song being a jovial, happy and playful song called Mr. Blue Sky, whereas whatever's going on in the screen is just pure and total chaos. Not to mention, the opening for this movie was a massive meme going around at the time. The Opening has multiple titles displayed, like the title of the movie along with crediting the movie studios that made the movie along with the main people that helped with the production of the movie, such as the main starring actors along with the people that helped with the production of the movie, like the director, the producers etc. There aren't multiple Images featured in the opening, instead its just one long uninterrupted shot of Baby Groot dancing across the rooftop ignoring the current chaos of the other members of the Guardians of the Galaxy fighting the monster with the song playing as he dances in his happiness without a care in the world, and introduces the other Guardians into the shot while they're fighting the monster. The Openings Images have a connotation of just hinting the behavior of Groot throughout the movie and what exactly he'll be acting like, also essentially hinting at how various scenes with the movie will go, with action undergoing with 80s music playing in the background. The Genre of the movie is reinforced through what's going in the scene, with the characters using their powers to fight the monster along with the music playing, essentially enforcing the 80s aesthetic along with multiple 80s songs being played both in the first and in this one. The Strategies for the audiences appeal, are just mainly the use of CGI along with the songs playing, both fans of superheroes and fans of songs from the 1980s would come to see this by simply just watching the intro. The Technology used just mainly Is used to show how Groot now has the mentality of a child is just being carefree as his other fellow Guardians save the day through as mentioned earlier, just a long uninterrupted shot of Groot dancing. But all in all, this is probably my favorite film opening since its so hilarious and I love the song that's used, and just the contrast between what Groot's doing along with the chaos going on in the background.

  Mise En Scene in Shang-Chi For my seventh blog post, I'll eventually be talking about use of the four main Mise En Scene areas in Shang-Chi. Blog Post #6 - Sound Project! - 10/26/2021

  So I have not blogged on here in a while! Been nearly a month now surprisingly, but I've had a bunch of stuff like school work & a bunch of stuff happening in my family and just overall, my life's been in craziness. But fairly recently, I got back into the world of media studies by working on a project for the last two weeks alongside two other students related to sound & to create a short little story from it, a foley stage project you could call it! Blog Post #30 - Beginning to Edit - 3/29/2022

  So onto the editing part of our film! So for this part, me and Alejandro decided to take a step back and let Abdullah take a step in as he's the most exeprienced here when it comes to editing and actually knows how to do editing and since he was in charge of editing for our previous sound project. I do think that he's capable of creating something wonderful since a lot of his previous stuff is pretty good! Me and Alejandro helped out a lot with how to lay out the shots and the Videography of the shooting process. I also helped primarily on the tone and mood of the film along with helping with the costume designs with Abdullah helping with the sound as well. We did help Abdullah in many ways though, mainly just by giving suggestions on what he could do with the editing process and just any corrections that were overall needed to make it better and to fix any errors and just overall make it a nice good film opening!
