Blog Post #17 - The Dark Knight Storyboard - 2/10/2022

 

So I also decided to Storyboard a specific scene from a specific movie! And why not give it a try with the Interrogation Scene from the Dark Knight! 


For starters, we're starting off with a medium close up of the Joker to show his reaction with Batman behind him, and when the light comes on, it shows how Joker is helpless in this situation. Also, there's a contrast of both light and dark used here to show their status, with Batman being the hero and The Joker being the villain.

We then get to an Over the Should shot with both Batman and Joker sitting on the same level to show both characters equally helpless as Joker is giving Batman information that he needs. The Director also uses Interrogation lighting to focus more attention on whichever character speaks but also adds in use of shadows to show the dark themes of the Joker. Also Camera Movement is used to as it pans from left to where Batman is sitting to create a swift transition to when he starts talking.

A Dutch Tilt is then used which shows that everything is going The Jokers favor to show that he wanted to get arrested to manipulate Batman and that now they're on the same level, but in different ways. Batman having the upper hand physically but Joker having the upper hand mentally. Also creates unease for the audience with the foreshadowing of what is potentially happening next.

A Reaction shot is then used as it focuses on the reactions of both Jim Gordon and the other police officers. Also Lighting gets dark to show both the intensity of the situation and the emotions of the characters, with the only light coming in being from the windows and the background to make it three dimensional and capture the reactions of the characters. A Medium Long Shot is used as well to show the unease of everyone in the room.

I definitely had a lot of fun creating both Storyboards for this! One of my own and one where I analyzed one of my favorite scenes in the movie!

  Mise En Scene in Shang-Chi For my seventh blog post, I'll eventually be talking about use of the four main Mise En Scene areas in Shang-Chi. Blog Post #6 - Sound Project! - 10/26/2021

  So I have not blogged on here in a while! Been nearly a month now surprisingly, but I've had a bunch of stuff like school work & a bunch of stuff happening in my family and just overall, my life's been in craziness. But fairly recently, I got back into the world of media studies by working on a project for the last two weeks alongside two other students related to sound & to create a short little story from it, a foley stage project you could call it! We had all gotten together & managed to reach a consensus on what we wanted to do pretty quickly, we essentially wanted to start off with a person walking to his home with a car behind him that had two people in it, person from the car would then leave & begin to follow the person walking home & then hit them with a bat, they'd then return to their car & be congratulated for their work.  So, to begin off, we began to record by firstly recording the walking, which legit took us like a day. Blog Post #30 - Beginning to Edit - 3/29/2022

  So onto the editing part of our film! So for this part, me and Alejandro decided to take a step back and let Abdullah take a step in as he's the most exeprienced here when it comes to editing and actually knows how to do editing and since he was in charge of editing for our previous sound project. I do think that he's capable of creating something wonderful since a lot of his previous stuff is pretty good! Me and Alejandro helped out a lot with how to lay out the shots and the Videography of the shooting process. I also helped primarily on the tone and mood of the film along with helping with the costume designs with Abdullah helping with the sound as well. We did help Abdullah in many ways though, mainly just by giving suggestions on what he could do with the editing process and just any corrections that were overall needed to make it better and to fix any errors and just overall make it a nice good film opening!
